Saskatchewan NDP cuts regressive sales tax

Right on the heals of yesterday's good news announcement that Saskatchewan is getting a new Stat Holiday in February, today the government announced that there will be a 2 point reduction in the Provincial Sales tax.

The tax will be reduced from 7% to 5% effective midnight tonight.

The government good news train keeps on rolling along.

Who says we are out of the next election?

Interesting that when the Cons cut the GST by 1% the N'dippers & their liberal pals scoffed about "it not worth a cup of coffee"!But now to buy votes to save their skins in the upcoming election it's a elimination of a regressive sales tax.

Actually, if you had been paying attention, you will find that this is one of the areas where I disagree with the current federal NDP. We opposed the creation of the GST and we have called to get rid of it in the past. I stand by that now. If it wasn't for Conservative mismangement of Saskathcewan, we wouldn't have a PST here at all.
