Another Harpocracy

What PMS (Prime Minister Steve) Says:

This party will not take its position based on public opinion polls. We will not take a stand based on focus groups. We will not take a stand based on phone-in shows or householder surveys or any other vagaries of pubic opinion.

What PMS Does:

The Conservative government paid $85,446 just weeks after winning the federal election for an exhaustive public-opinion poll that critics say was unnecessary and appears designed to produce favourable partisan results rather than sound public policy.

Ha ha. Nice try. When he said, "This Party" he was referring to the Canadian Alliance Party not the Conservative Party.

It was a quote about their Iraq policies. That quote does not say that they will never use polls, but would not use it in that context. Besides, Prime Minister Harper has been meeting with many different groups to get their input.
