Sask Party / PC Merger?

There is some evidence that shows that former Sask Party leader Elwin Hermanson approached the leader of the PC Party to discuss a merger between the two parties.

Why?

Follow the money.

According to the Sworn Affidavit of Rick Swenson (the PC Leader) after the 2003 election campaign he was approached by Hermanson to discuss merging the two parties together.

His sworn testimony is as follows:

(See the full affidavit here on the Sask NDP website)

So it is all about the money.

Perhaps that explains this story today:

The Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan Trust Fund was set up in 1981 from contributions from the party "for the purpose of insuring the long-term survival and existence of the Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan," according to the deed.

In 1997, with the formation of the Saskatchewan Party by Tory and Liberal MLAs, the PC party amended its constitution to allow the party to become inactive for two consecutive provincial elections.

During that time, the fund continued to disperse money to the party.

Swenson alleges funding was cut off when members of its board began discussing revival of the party.

This is HUGE and I can't believe that the MSM is not covering this! The fact that the Saskatchewan Party wanted access to the Progressive Conservatives Trust fund is a big development considering that is also Sask Party members who are preventing the PC's from getting there money.

This is HUGE - thanks Mouse, I am going to blog on this same topic myself tomorrow! We need to get this info out there!!

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, I don't know why the provincial NDP is not making a bigger deal over this. At least the put the documents on their web site for people to look at.

Now who is picking fly sh!t out of pepper? I consider this a non-issue like the shake down the NDP fundraisers do when sending out the blue hair scare mongers armed with NO TILMA brochures, discussing non-sensical fictious plots of Americans and Big Business.

Has there ever been any doubt?

As the SDAP has said all along, it is the objective of Brad Wall and the SaskParty to resurrect the debt producing economics of the 1980's.

Anyone who votes for the fiscally irresponsible self-titled conservative parties (SaskParty/PC conjoined twins) truly hates Saskatchewan.

Any self-respecting fiscal conservative will put as much distance between the SaskParty/PC and themselves as humanly possible.

Can't you left wing bloggers find anything up to date to say about the Sask Party and Brad Wall.......man....it's all about the past with you people....OH! Brad Wall used to work for Devine. OH! Brad Wall will do what Devine did. OH1 the Sask Party wanted to merge with the PC's. OH! Brad Wall has a hidden agenda just like Elwin Hermanson........OLD NEWS! Get over it....and move into the 21st century. Even if you are only preaching to the choir like you all do, it must be getting pretty boring for them also. OH! I got an idea.... how about talking about the NDP record over the past 16 years....even you guys will have a hard time spinning that in a positive light! And for God sakes stop with the "we have the lowest insurance rates" bullshit.....I have lived in both Saskatchewan and Alberta and I can assure you my vehicle insurance rates are much cheaper in Alberta.

First of all, 2003 isn't exactly ancient history.

Secondly, for a group of people who like to keep tossing the Regina Manifesto (from 1933) in the NDP's face, you might want to reconsider what you define as "history"

Geeze, looks like we hit another nerve, people.

The past is alway a good indicator of the future - Devine = Wall, one of the same. Don't let Wall ruin our province, once in a lifetime is enough.
